Saint Francis Solanus

Reading: We are preparing to take DRA inventories so I know where each child's abilities lie.  Mon. night they are to read "The Fox and the Crow".

English:  We are learning about the two parts of a sentance.  Ask your child if they can tell you the naming part and the action part.

Spelling:  We are on Unit 1. On Monday we take a pretest. We will work on the words all week with a final test given on Friday.  The list should come home on Mon.

Book It: We will begin this in October.

Writing Journal: We will begin this next week. 

Author of the Week:  We have been reading books by Mike Thaler.  They are know as the Black Lagoon Books. Ask your child which is their favorite so far.

Religion:  We are on Chapter 1 this week.  There will be a test on Friday.  A study sheet will come home on Thurs. This week the other second grade class will join us.

Science: We will beging talking about living and nonliving things and continue on with plants.

Social Studies: We will be learning about manners this week and learn about a famous person in history who showed kindness.

Music: We join the other class with Mrs. Steers.

Computer:   Faith First and Spelling City are two websites we will visit this week.reading and many new author books to read.
