FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Thank you for inquiring about St. Francis School. As a parent of a school-age child, we understand you have questions about the school, its staff, and its curriculum. That’s why we created this FAQ (frequently asked questions) sheet. We hope it will answer some of the questions you may have. If not, please refer to our Parent/Student Handbook or give us a call at 222-4077. Thank you for your interest.
- WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL HOURS?
Our school day begins at 8:20 a.m. and dismisses at 3:00 p.m.
- HOW MUCH ARE SCHOOL FEES?
Tuition fee: Parishioner 1 child - $2100, Family rate $2950.
Non-Catholic 1 child - $2750, Family rate $3350
Non-Catholic’s enrolled after 2005 $4200
Instructional fee: $175 per student. After March 29, 2010, intructional fee is $275 per student.
Financial assistance is available for qualifying families.
- In addition to fees, how else am I expected to support the school?
In addition to paying tuition, 10 hours of service work is to be completed and reported by each family. Various opportunities take place throughout the school year that allow for parent support. Each family is expected to do recess duty approximately once per month.
- DO YOU OFFER A DAYCARE PROGRAM?
Yes, our extended day program is offered before and after school from 6:30 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. There is a charge of $1.75 per hour for each child (or $1.75 per hour per child if 3 or more) and a $10.00 registration fee. The program is a service to parents with working hours that do not coincide with the school hours. It is open to St. Francis students only and it is offered on full school days only.
- IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
Yes, all bottoms (pants, skirts, skorts, or shorts) must be solid black, navy, or tan khaki. All shirts must be solid and have a fold-over collar. Shirts may be turtlenecks, button front or polo style (solid red, white, light blue, navy blue, or forest green) that are required to be tucked in. All shoes must fully enclose the foot. More specific information is located in the Parent/Student Handbook.
- WHAT ARE THE LUNCH FEES?
St. Francis School provides hot lunch daily. The cost is $2.25. Extra white or chocolate milk and juice is available for .35¢ for those students wishing to purchase extra milk or juice for a sack lunch. We highly encourage parents to apply for the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program for qualified families. This helps the school secure federal dollars for lunch and other programs.
- HOW DOES THE SCHOOL COMMUNICATE WITH PARENTS ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE SCHOOL?
A Weekly Newsletter goes home every Friday (or last day of the school week) along with other important papers with the youngest school-age child or only child in the family. Parents are welcome to contact the school office during school hours with any questions. Additionally, the school website www.stfrancissolanus.com and weekly church bulletin offer information.
- WHAT REQUIREMENTS ARE NECESSARY FOR REGISTRATION?
Upon Kindergarten registration, a copy of a child’s birth, social security number and baptismal certificate is required. All children entering Preschool, Kindergarten and sixth grade must have a current physical exam. Students in grades K, 2nd, and 6th must have a dental exam. Kindergarten students or students entering the school must have a vision exam. Immunizations need to be up to date.
