Pax et bonum - Peace and everything good to you!

That is the greeting that St. Francis of Assisi used 800 years ago, and it is still a good way to greet you today.

I welcome you to St. Francis Solanus Parish.  This parish was founded in 1860, which means that 2010 will mark our 150th anniversary.  The parish was founded by Franciscan friars from Germany, and is still in the hands of the Franciscans of Sacred Heart Province.

As one who is new here – I just became pastor of St. Francis in September, 2009 – I am delighted to say that this is a very warm and welcoming parish.  We have a very active faith community, with many parish organizations, an excellent parochial school, many and various ministries, and good participation in the greater community of Quincy

If you are looking for a parish where you may belong, we encourage you to come here.  Join us for some of our weekend services and I’m sure you’ll find that our celebration of the Sacred Liturgy is up-to-date, and truly alive and life-giving.

If you are Catholic and have not been actively practicing your faith, we welcome you to return home.  I believe you’ll find St. Francis a place that you can call home.

And if you are not a member of any faith community, please come and visit here, and consider becoming a Catholic by participating in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).  There’s no obligation to continue, and no pressure.  The process involves joining a group of others who are considering becoming Catholic, so there’s good discussion with others of what the Catholic Faith is all about.

There is so much more that can be said, so I simply invite you to navigate around this website and see if you can find more of what might interest you about St. Francis Solanus Parish and School.  If you have more questions, simply contact us with an e-mail message or a phone call, and we’ll try to address your needs.

As St. Francis of Assisi said, quoting the Book of Numbers:

May the Lord bless you and keep you.

May He show is face to you and be gracious to you.

May He turn to you his countenance and give you peace.

            May the Lord bless you.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Don Blaeser, O.F.M.

Pastor
